The Metropolitan Police Department arrested a suspect yesterday in connection with the death of a man last week who was found with gunshot wounds inside a burning apartment in Columbia Heights.

Jermaine Brown, 34, was arrested Thursday by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and is being charged with first-degree murder while armed, police said. The victim, who was found on the 1000 block of Euclid Street NW, has been identified as 31-year-old Randolph Scott Harris Jr.

Authorities were called to Harris’ apartment last Friday morning, where they found him suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside the domicile, which had been set ablaze. An autopsy to determine the cause of death is pending.
