It’s no Super Moon, but this weekend if you look up into the night’s sky, you’ll be able to see something pretty cool: The return of the Perseid meteor shower!

As the Washington Post reports, the annual meteor shower returns this weekend and will be most visible late Sunday through early Monday, provided that the predicted thunderstorms hold off just a little while longer. But, if the skies do clear up, it looks like we’re in for quite the show this year as the annual meteor shower is predicted to be stronger than previous years:

Expect to see a higher number of shooting stars, say about 90 each hour at peak, according to the Observer’s Handbook 2013, by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. You won’t see all 90 each hour – not even close. But if you persevere, you’ll have a handsome count.

With the shower hitting a predicted peak in the afternoon of Monday, Aug. 12, says Sky and Telescope, this year’s sky gazers likely might enjoy extra innings of meteor watching on Monday night.

And, as in the past, DCist recommends finding a comfortable location—perhaps a quiet park or your own roofdeck—and cracking open a frosty beer with a few friends to enjoy the galactic light show.
