Apart from being a legendary blues guitarist who will (hopefully) live forever, B.B. King also has a string of namesake blues clubs and restaurants across the country. With locations in Orlando, Memphis, Nashville, Las Vegas, and West Palm Beach, B.B. King’s Blues Club and Restaurant mixes the soothing sounds of legendary live blues acts with classic American fare, and soon you’ll be able to find one in D.C.

As Eater D.C. reports, the popular chain is currently looking for potential locations in the area:

The company is working with firm Miller Walker Real Estate to find the right site in D.C. Broker Bill Miller says they’ve toured several locations in D.C. proper, but there’s no lease signed yet. They’re looking at places between 8,000 and 12,000 square feet in size, and considering spots that stretch over two levels.

Though Washington is in no shortage of venues to catch live music, with places like the 9:30 Club, the Black Cat, The Hamilton, the Rock and Roll Hotel, and others all within a few miles of each other (and places like The Birchmere and The Fillmore just outside of town), places to catch live blues in D.C. are few and far between. Most notably is the legendary Blues Alley in Georgetown and Bohemian Caverns on U Street NW. Still, even those places book mostly live jazz. So, a place like B.B. King’s would serve as a nice avenue to bring more blues acts to D.C.

No word on when when we can expect a B.B. King’s Blues Club and Restaurant to open its doors in D.C., but we’ll certainly update when we have more info.
