>> Since his 1999 arrival in New York, trombonist Ryan Keberle‘s career has taken him through every facet of the music scene: from the pit orchestras of Broadway, to session work with superstars Beyonce and Justin Timberlake, to playing along side jazz legends like Maria Schneider and Wynton Marsalis. >> Dennis Chambers is considered one of the greatest drummers of all time. In the early ’90s, he teamed up with fellow Baltimore native and bassist Gary Grainger, guitarist Ulf Wakenius and keyboardist Haakon Graf to form Grafitti, an in-your-face fusion outfit that recalled the pioneering spirit of electric jazz from the 1970s. The band reunites from time to time and will be playing the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club on Friday. 8 p.m. Tickets $25 plus food and drink minimum.
>> The Uptown Vocal Jazz Quartet, known for its exciting and intricate take on vocalese, teams up with saxophonist Richie Cole for a 3-night run at Blues Alley that begins on Friday. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets $25 plus minimum and surcharge.
>> Drummer and area native Aaron Seeber is just in his early 20s, but already has enough skill to lead a group through a weekend at Twins Jazz. That a number of D.C.’s finest jazzers are playing with him is a testament to Seeber’s talent. His band on Friday and Saturday includes vibraphonist Warren Wolf, pianist Allyn Johnson, bassist Kris Funn and alto saxophonist Tim Green. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. >> Louis Hayes is highly celebrated among drummers but still does not get the recognition that he deserves, which is to be counted among the all-time greats. He began his career with the pianist Horace Silver while still a teenager, did extended stints with Cannonball Adderley and Oscar Peterson, and has worked with a Who’s Who of jazz that includes Coltrane, Monk, Tyner and many more. Hayes will be a the historic Bohemian Caverns on Friday and Saturday with his own band, The Jazz Communicators. 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets. Tickets $20 in advance/$25 at the door.

>> The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies were one of many groups that came to prominence during the jump swing revival of the mid ’90s. The band continues to tour regularly and will be at The Hamilton on Saturday. 8:30 p.m. Tickets $25.
>> Keyboardist Jeff Lorber was at the forefront of the fusion movement during the late ’70s. He continues to be a prolific musician drawing from a variety of genres.
