This morning, the D.C. Bicycle Advisory Council tweeted out a photo of two Metropolitan Police Department cars parked in the bike lane on Pennsylvania Avenue NW near the Wilson Building. (Just blocks from the White House!)
“Dear @DCPoliceDept: Please, don’t park in the bike lanes, it [poses] a danger for cyclists and sends a bad message,” the tweet said. Randall Myers, a member of the D.C. government-appointed advisory council, said the photo was taken at 9:45 a.m. today. He witnessed five cyclists riding into traffic to avoid the cars. By 10 a.m., the police cars had moved.
In an email, MPD spokeswoman Gwen Crump said, “Thanks for informing us of this matter. We will identify the operator and address the issue.”
Maybe Nader should write a letter?
