Capital Bikeshare bikes are pretty unmistakable—they’re big, bulky, bright red, and have the distinctive “Capital Bikeshare” logo scribbled right down the middle of it— They’re so unmistakable that, if you were to spot one in, say, Seattle, you’d know it was the real deal.

Well, that’s what happened to Tracy Clayton, a former D.C. resident who now resides in Seattle.

Earlier today, Clayton posted a photo of an Capital Bikeshare bike resting on the sidewalk in Seattle.

How did it get there? Why? Did someone really ride it across the country?

So many questions.

DCist reached out to Capital Bikeshare—who said they are aware of the situation and confirm that it is, in fact, a Capital Bikeshare bike—to hopefully lay this mystery to rest, but they haven’t gotten back to us yet. You better believe we’ll update when we know more.
