MUSIC: Starfucker, probably one of the coolest band names to come around in a while, and certainly one of the most danceable, will play at the 9:30 Club with openers Small Black and Feelings tonight. Starfucker goes on at 9:30 p.m. Which is easy to remember because…venue name. Doors at 7 p.m., show starts at 7:30. Tickets $25.
FOOD & DRINK: Ripple’s Executive Chef, Marjorie Meek-Bradley, will prepare and host a “health-conscious, four-course meal” to benefit the American Cancer Society. Sure, at $75 it may seem expensive, but remember, it’s for a good cause.
What culinary delights will be on the slab, you say? How about an amuse bouche of Rappahannock oyster—bam!—followed by a summer vegetable salad with hummus, marinated fennel, sweet and sour eggplant, radish, squash and dill granite—biff! slap! pow!—then Cherry Glen Farms goat cheese ravioli with melted heirloom tomatoes and basil, followed by poached tilefish with leeks, potatoes, Autumn Olive Farms bacon and celery. Dessert involves roasted peach galette over corn pudding, with vanilla ice cream, candied black walnuts. Hell yeah.
Starts at 7 p.m. For more information and to register, contact Kelsey Duke at kelsey@lindarothpr.com or call (703) 417-2702. Ripple is at 3417 Connecticut Ave NW.
SEXYDANCETIMEZ: The Mason Dixie Burlesque Tour, which proclaims it will deliver “hottest vixens from both sides of the Mason-Dixon,” will take place at the Bier Baron. It’s burlesque, so it’ll probably feature a lot of skin and jokes. Performers are: Deanna Danger (Richmond, Va.), Üla Überbusen (NYC), Porcelain (Raleigh, N.C.) and Hazel Honeysuckle (NYC). With “special guest,” GiGi Holliday. Doors at 9 p.m. Tickets $10 advance, $12 at the door. 1523 22nd St. NW,
CRAFTS: Create at the Corcoran Happy Hour at 6:30 p.m. Textile Design: Shibori. Members $25, Public $30.
