Beginning at 10 p.m. tonight through Sunday, Metro will shut down the Takoma station on the Red Line as part of continuing track work.

Busses will be available to shuttle passengers “between Silver Spring and Fort Totten to allow for third-rail infrastructure upgrades, rail welding and joint elimination for a smoother ride.” Two bus routes, one that stops at Takoma and one that doesn’t, will be available. Metro will also open two hours early on Sunday for the Army Ten-Miler.

Red Line track work at Union Station earlier this month took a tragic turn when a contractor was killed during a “welding accident.” The cause of the incident is still under investigation.

While this is yet another pain for Red Line travelers, there’s some good news: This is the next to last scheduled disruption for that line in 2013.
