Photo by photographynatalia.A person was struck by a Metro train at the Cleveland Park station this afternoon, briefly closing it to commuters.
A WMATA public information officer said it appears the person, a female, intentionally jumped. The incident occurred around 1:20 p.m.
Metro Transit Police and D.C. Fire and EMS both responded to the scene. The woman, who was conscious and breathing, was transported to a local hospital, according to a tweet from the MTPD. Fire and EMS spokesperson Tim Wilson says the woman is suffering from non-life threatening injuries.
Commuters should expect delays in both directions on the Red Line. Trains did not stop at the Cleveland Park station for about 50 minutes, but the station has since reopened.
