Today in caffeine news, a coffee company that already sells beans in the area will open its first shop in D.C. next month.
Zeke’s “D.C. Roastery and Coffee Lab” will celebrate its grand opening on November 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its 2300 Rhode Island Avenue NE location. Zeke’s beans are already available at farmers market in Bethesda, Silver Spring and other local locations.
The Baltimore-based coffee company will hand-roast beans and will sell 25 or more roast varieties. The shop will be open Wednesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and during the weekend from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Meanwhile, D.C. standby Peregrine Espresso will begin offering classes at Union Market this winter. Espresso Fundamentals will teach students “the basics of espresso and milk technique while gaining experience on the finest professional equipment,” while Better Brewing at Home will teach “manual brewing in the home kitchen setting, equipping students with the techniques essential for making delicious pourover coffee.” The first class costs $95 per student for one two-hour session, while the latter costs $60 per student.
