The death of Michael Kingsbury, the seven-year-old D.C. boy who was found dead in the backseat of a car near his Northeast home, has been ruled an accident, NBC 4 reported.

Kingsbury disappeared from his Trinidad home in early July. A massive police search ended tragically the next day when his body was found in a car 40 feet from his home.

Police said there were no signs of trauma, though his body had undergone obvious signs of decomposition. At least five police officers had looked into the car before Kingsbury was eventually found.
