Every job has its fair share of onsite hazards, but for TV journalists, chasing down stories can sometimes lead to trouble.

Yesterday, the WUSA9 crew was dispatched to Southern Avenue in Southeast to investigate a reported home invasion that occurred early Wednesday morning, wherein four armed men allegedly held eight people hostage in their own home, and assaulted three of them, according to police.

While knocking on neighbors’ doors, WUSA9’s Bruce Johnson and photographer Danielle Gill were attacked standing in front of the house where the alleged home invasion took place. After yelling at Johnson and Gill to get away from an upstairs window, the woman came outside, sprayed mace at them and then threw some punches.

Johnson writes that they were both OK and are not pressing charges:

“We are okay, not even shaken by the incident. We have notified police. We are not interested in pressing charges.”

In a Tweet, Johnson says that Gill injured her arm during the attack:
