>> District native Mark Meadows completed his music studies at Peabody in 2011 and is already making his way as a first call pianist. He will be leading a group of skilled up-and-comers on Thursday at Twins Jazz. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets $10 plus food and drink minimum.
>> The Everyone Orchestra is led and conducted by musician, multi-instrumentalist and activist Matt Butler. The group’s lineup is constantly in flux, as is the music. Each iteration creates completely different music every time it appears through conducted improvisational musical exploration and audience participation. The Everyone Orchestra performs on Thursday at The Howard Theatre. 8 p.m. Tickets $25 in advance/$30 at the door.

>> Jazzmeia Horn was the recipient of the “Rising Star” award at the inaugural Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2012. The rising star will be at the Kennedy Center’s KC Jazz Club on Friday for 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. sets. Tickets $20.
>> DCist interviewed D.C.-based Brazilian jazz vocalist Emy Tseng just before she celebrated the release of her debut album, Sonho. The album has earned critical praise and has increased her profile considerably. Tseng will be leading her band on Friday and Saturday at Twins Jazz. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. >> Pianist Chris Grasso has moved his weekly jazz series to the historic Loews Madison Hotel‘s PostScript lounge. He will be featuring a rotating cast of musicians every Friday and Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m. This weekend will feature vocalist Sharon Clark (Friday) and saxophonist Lyle Link (Saturday).
>> The Rebirth Brass Band has long been one of the most celebrated groups in New Orleans. The group will bring its street parade grooves to The Hamilton on Friday and Saturday. 7 p.m. doors/8:30 p.m. show. Tickets $28.50.

>> Glen Echo Park‘s Spanish Ballroom will be decorated with WWII-era memorabilia and vintage flags for this Saturday’s Canteen Dance with the Eric Felten Jazz Orchestra. There will be a swing dance lesson from 8 to 9 p.m. and dancing will continue until midnight. Tickets $12 to $18 with proceeds benefiting the USO.
>> CapitalBop‘s Jazz Loft takes place on Sunday, but at a new and more appropriately DIY venue at Union Arts. This month’s lineup features woodwind artist Fred Foss, pianist Mark Meadows and The Third Wheel, comprised of saxophonist Brad Linde with Janel & Anthony. 7 p.m. $15 suggested donation.
>> Bohemian Caverns has been closed for some time now, ever since a car was driven through the side wall of the historic building.
