While Councilmember Vincent Orange has yet to publicly comment on his latest run for mayor or register a website, a person or group of people have taken the liberty to do so for him. The only issue for Orange is, they aren’t his supporters.

Said person or group purchased the domain name VincentOrange2014.com, OrangeForDCMayor.com and Orange2014.com, and set up a site that opens with, “He’s the BEST. The best at raising campaign cash means he doesn’t have to worry about spending so much time looking after your needs. He just has to focus on those giving him campaign cash.”

The site also touts his Emancipation Day parade spending (“he spent $2,500 of the city’s money on a self-aggrandizing video”), his efforts to keep a rat-infested store open and a federal probe into his last campaign. It also features a soundbite of Orange saying, “Make me look like an idiot!

While it’s reasonable to assume Orange and his campaign staff may have an issue with the site, its creator(s) seem to think they are safeguarded against a takedown order: “This website is a parody and is not affiliated, funded, or produced in cooperation with any campaign or candidate for public office.”

The site was registered on November 8, the same day Orange declared, to a private registrant through DreamHost.

The person/people have also taken the liberty of registering the Twitter handle @OrangeForMayor.
