Daniel Bejar is a prolific songwriter who preforms under the moniker Destroyer. Since 1995, Bejar has been releasing albums and EPs while also performing with the Canadian supergroup The New Pornographers. Each of Destroyer’s full lengths are stylistic shifts, from midi-orchestras, to Bowie style rave-ups. His 2011 breakout record Kaputt, is a record of yacht-rock with sweet saxophone lines added to the arrangements. Destroyer just released a new EP, Five Spanish Songs, again with a twist. Bejar forfeited song writing duties and instead has covered five songs from the frontman of the Spanish band Sr. Chinarro, Antonio Luque. “El Rito” is a power-pop number off the record. The track features Bejar doing both lead and back-up vocals, and his Spanish sounds great, even though it is not his native tongue. Bejar is on a short solo-tour of the states right now with a date tonight at the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue. If you miss him tonight you will have to wait until 2015, so don’t miss out.

Destroyer play tonight with Pink Mountaintops at the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue. Tickets are $22.
