In an unfortunate sequel to last week’s The Red Line Is A Mess, the Red Line is experiencing numerous issues this morning.
Riders are being told to expect delays of 30 minutes “due to a track problem” that is causing trains to single-track between Dupont Circle and Van Ness. One track problem seems to be a train sitting at the Woodley Park station.
Update: The problem is a Red Line low-hanging cable in the tunnel near Woodley Park, leaving trains unable to pass until it’s repaired. This has happened before.
Seriously?! I ride #Metro maybe twice a month. Today there’s a train stuck at Wodley Park. We can do better @wmata pic.twitter.com/FWcGvfBU4F

A train going in the direction of Shady Grove was also offloaded this morning, due to a brake problem.

In conclusion, here’s some advice from Washington Post managing editor Emilio Garcia-Ruiz: “Do not even consider commuting in on the red line this morning. That is all.”
