Attention Nobel committee, your search is over. The winner of the 2013 Peace Prize has been found: iStrategyLabs. The geniuses at the D.C.-based digital strategy firm have developed what is surely the most important invention in modern history. An invention so great, and so powerful, it will bring about world peace as fighting nations will put down their weapons, join hands, and unite in the glory that is the PiePal.
What is this magnificent device you ask? Well, prepare to have your world rocked. The PiePal is a device that will instantly order you a pizza from Domino’s with the mere push of a single button. Pizza! At your fingertips!
Speaking with NPR, DJ Saul, iStrategyLabs’ chief marketing officer, sums up the simplistic brilliance of the device quite beautifully: “What do people get late at night, what is something you don’t want to use an app for, what is something you just want to hit a button for? Pizza.” Truer words never spoken.
And how does this unbelievable device work? NPR reports:
The hardware uses a combination of an Arduino circuit board and Raspberry Pi — a credit-card sized computer. The software written to make it work is powered by JavaScript, using Node.js and the team set up a way for its system to pull in Domino’s online ordering choices so users can pre-program the order they’d expect to show up at their doorstep — their “emergency pizza” order, as Saul calls it.
Of course, this device, which is sure to change the face of humanity as we know it, is still in its beta testing phase, and thus is subject to several limitations. For starters, it’s only programmed to place an order from Domino’s and, while it’s programmed to order up to five pies at once, it doesn’t look like it allows you to choose toppings. But c’mon. PIZZA BUTTON.
Now comes the best part (“What?! It gets better?!”) you can sign up for the chance to be a beta tester and have PiePal installed in your very own home. Click here to find out how.
And now, the PiePal in action:
And I’m throwing this in here just because:
Brb, pizza time.
