A man fell to his death Saturday at a Smithsonian museum.

The incident occurred at the National Museum of the American Indian, located at 4th Street and Independence Avenue SW, and temporarily shut down the museum. It is open today, according to the Smithsonian.

“Yesterday at @SmithsonianNMAI, a man died after jumping from the 4th floor balcony in the atrium,” the Smithsonian tweeted this morning. “Our deepest sympathies are with his family.”

A Smithsonian spokesperson, John Gibbons, told the AP that the man was visiting the museum with his family, but was alone when he apparently jumped.
