In classic holiday news drop fashion, the company formerly known as the Washington Post Co. announced the sale of its former paper’s headquarters this afternoon.. Good riddance!

The Washington Post building is located at 1150 15th Street NW, located just blocks from the White House. (Four, to be exact.) The building and the land it sits on will be sold by Graham Holdings to Carr Properties, a local real estate investment company, for approximately $159 million, according to a release.

Here’s a fun observation about that fact.

As a former employee of the paper sold by Graham Holdings to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, I’ll submit that the headquarters’ sale is nothing but good news. Sure, it’s seen a fair share of iconic moments. But it’s badly in need of an update. The paper’s new home, whether it be in NoMa or by the waterfront, will likely be an upgrade.
