Tomorrow evening you’ll be stuffing yourself full of delicious food, in a warm, toasty home with friends and family. Mmmmm all of that turkey. Just picture it now. Got it? Good. Now hold on to that image, because you’re going to need it to get you through your morning commute (if it involves taking the Metro).

To no one’s surprise, the Metro is a mess this morning, with single-tracking happening on the Red Line between the Van Ness and Friendship Heights stops due to scheduled track work and between the NoMa-Gallaudet and Rhode Island Avenue stops due to a track problem.

“Ah, but I’m not taking the Red Line to work, suckers!” you might be saying, if you’re a Blue Line commuter. Unfortunately, you’re still going to encounter problems as the Blue Line is experiencing delays to Largo.

This week has been another rough one for Red Line commuters. The evening commute yesterday, for example, saw single-tracking because of a train malfunction, brake problem, disabled train and a switch problem.

Delays on the Red Line are expected to continue through this evening as the scheduled track work will be going until Metro’s closure tonight. Happy Thanksgiving indeed.

Update: Rejoice! The Red Line is no longer single tracking between NoMa-Gallaudet and Rhode Island Avenue! Delays continue, however.
