Today, federally contracted McDonald’s workers in the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum will walk off their jobs, joining a mass, nation-wide fast-food strike.

The walk-off is part of a nation-wide protest of striking federal contract workers calling for the government to pay a more livable wage and “give workers a voice on the job,” a press release states. The Air and Space Museum’s McDonald’s workers will begin their strike at 10:45 a.m., and rally in front of the museum at 11 a.m. for a press conference where they’ll be joined by Representative Keith Ellison (D-MN); Rev. Michael Livingston, past President of the Council of Churches; and more.

The walk-off is part of a nation-wide strike taking place today in more than 100 cities today. DCist will be reporting from the rally later today with a full write-up.
