The beloved museum will feature a “Star Wars” X-wing, along with many historic objects that aim to tell the stories of our space exploration in a more inclusive way.

The museum, which has been closed for several months, is reopening Oct. 14, but free timed passes are required for visitors.

Eight renovated galleries in the museum’s west wing will open to the public on Oct. 14, even as extensive renovations continue on other portions of the building.

The Anacostia Community Museum, the National Postal Museum, and the National Air and Space Museum are reopening next week.

Last seen in 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” the full-sized fictional spacecraft is being conserved in preparation for moving to the museum downtown next year.

Following a $500,000 conservation.

The museum has also announced some lane and sidewalk closures.

Officials say it will mark a “new era” for the second-most popular museum in the world.

“We can transcend time and space.”

It will reopen on Friday, coinciding with the museum’s 40th anniversary.
