The past month sure has been an exciting one for DCision2014, hasn’t it? At the end of the second fundraising period, way back in October, we only had four candidates reporting their fundraising numbers. Now we have nine candidates’ numbers to look at from the last fundraising period, which covers October 10 to December 10.

The takeaway? Jack Evans (D-Ward 2) is leading the pack. But he’s closely followed by Muriel Bowser (D-Ward 4).

In the latest fundraising period, Evans reported raising $251,363.91 this period, with $582,496.84 cash in hand, bringing his total fundraising efforts to $1,019,373.16. Though he spent $164,273.96 in the last fundraising period. “The support I am receiving throughout the city at public events and private homes is solid,” Evans said in a release. “My campaign is about bringing quality jobs and more economic opportunities to residents in every part of this city—that message is resonating with voters.”

And just like last time, Bowser is in second, having raised $211,323.50 in the last period, though Bowser reported having $756,019.03 cash on hand and spent $68,013.83. So far, she’s raised $920,304.80. Behind Bowser is Tommy Wells (D-Ward 6), who brought in $100,583.33, with $132,570.64 cash on hand, having spent $107,604.65 in the last fundraising period. (One of his donors? Winthrop Cashdollar.) Thus far, Wells has raised $420,492.01.

As for the new candidates who entered the race in the last fundraising period, Busboys & Poets owner Andy Shallal is leading with $120,716.64 reported in the past month, and $0 cash on hand reported. Shallal has spent $27,443.31 on his campaign so far. In a release, Campaign manager Bob Muehlenkamp said “we are right on track with where we want to be. We will be fully competitive in this race to the end.”

Behind Shallal is Vincent Orange (D-At Large), who’s raised $80,200 so far—all cash on hand—followed by Reta Jo Lewis, who has raised $35,818, with $58,123.32 cash on hand.

At the bottom of the list is longshot candidate Christian Carter, who has raised $300.21, with $339.45 cash on hand, and only spent $76.26, bringing his total to $5,808.51.

Oh, and then there’s Mayor Vince Gray, whose campaign—only eight days old—has not raised any money yet.
