Via NBC4’s Scott MacFarlane, here’s a map that shows where the most parking tickets were issued downtown in 2012.
The map focuses on the Central Business District and shows that M Street NW between 20th and 18th streets is the most problematic for parkers. A second map shows District-wide violations, although the majority are concentrated downtown. Here are more details, via D.C. Department of Transportation spokesperson Monica Hernandez.
These maps are part of an effort to show what work on the Curbside Management Study has been done to date. Any methodology and process behind the maps and analysis would be part of a finished report that would be compiled in 2014 at the earliest. The map was compiled in this calendar year (Fall 2013) encompassing the 2012 calendar year data.
In 2012, D.C. wrote 1.8 million parking tickets, or 6,000 a day. TicketZen co-founder Ryan Neu reports that, in 2011, the per citizen parking ticket burden in D.C. was $159. Of course, not every citizen in D.C. drives and many drivers in D.C. are from other states.
