And now for a Santa Shot With Pellet Gun palate cleanser.
The Washington Humane Society says 135 animals have been adopted from their two shelters since fees were waived Friday.
After taking in 26 days dog in one day, WHS made the decision to waive all adoption fees at both the New York Avenue and Georgia Avenue facilities. Now they have empty kennels. “Almost half of the kennels are empty (and the cat rooms look just as good!),” WHS said in a Facebook post. “We are a high intake shelter and keep dogs in every room and office space available so that we can find them a forever home. We do the best we can for each and every animal we receive. On Saturday, the Adoption Center was overflowing with PEOPLE adopting our animals! On Sunday, we had a huge line of people waiting for us to open. 60 animals were adopted just over weekend!”
Potential adopters are still screened through the regular process. Fees will be waived through 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, when the shelters close.
“This isn’t just a picture — this is a Christmas present to all WHS employees, the animals saved and to their new adoptive families!” Via WHS.
