As the Northeast braces itself for a big blizzard, all eyes are focused on the D.C. region, as it’s expected to get hit the hardest, with as much as two feet of accumulation expected.

Nah, just kidding, we’re getting basically zilch in the snow department.*

According to the Capital Weather Gang, D.C. will, at most, get two inches of snow. And that’s an extremely generous estimate. Beginning in the mid-to-late afternoon, a mixture of rain, sleet and snow is expected to begin and will continue through the night, but with little to no accumulation because it won’t be cold enough. At some point in the night, temperatures will drop and that’s where the chance of accumulation might happen.

The forecast calls for a dusting of up to two inches, with the accumulation chances greater as you head towards Baltimore. But the real threat here is the temperature drop. The National Weather Service says “unseasonably cold weather will settle into the region friday and Friday night. Wind chill values may approach zero friday morning.”

So yeah, bundle up, D.C. And remember: If you see a person in need of shelter, call either 1-800-535-7252 or 202-399-7093 to connect with D.C.’s shelter hotline.

*But in the event we do get any snow, the D.C. government is ON IT.
