Early this morning, an 11-year-old boy on his way to school in Brightwood was hit by the driver of a car at the intersection of 13th Street NW and Rock Creek Ford Road NW.

According to a Metropolitan Police Department public information officer, police received the call at approximately 8:22 a.m. D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Tim Wilson says that the boy was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An update on his condition has not been released. Police are still withholding details on the accident as an investigation continues.

This year, DCist will attempt to document all incidents where pedestrians in D.C. are struck by drivers on a map. The information will be first pulled from D.C. Fire and EMS’s Twitter feed, then updated once we verify it with a spokesperson. If you see such an incident, let us know at tips@dcist.com.
