>> Stanley Clarke turned the bass playing world on its ear when he broke onto the scene in the early ’70s, playing with the likes of Stan Getz and Chick Corea’s Return to Forever. He is now a bona fide jazz legend and also has built a parallel career as a very successful film composer. Clarke will be at The Birchmere on Thursday to lead a group through a 7:30 p.m. show. >> Ralph Peterson broke onto the scene with many of the “young lions” of the ’80s and has spent nearly 30 years as one of the straight-ahead jazz scene’s first call drummers.
