While it will be downright steamy this weekend in D.C. (62 degrees on Saturday!), the ice slide at St. Elizabeths East Gateway Pavilion will be open for the first time.

From noon to 5 p.m., the ice slide will be free to people under the age of 18. Day passes for adults are $5, while parking at the 2700 Martin Luther King Avenue SE site is free. The slide will be open each weekend until February 15.

Chanda Washington, director of communications for the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning & Economic Development, says the cost of the slide is $220,000, with the $5 fee going to the city’s general fund.
