The D.C. Department of Transportation has launched an app to access information about public space permits. Sounds super exciting, right? Hey, it kind of is!
The Public Space Permit Viewer app — available for Android, iPhone and Windows 8 users — can pull up recent construction and occupancy (funerals, parades, etc.) permits in the city. You can also create bar and pie charts to show how many permits have been approved, issued, rejected and revoked. (The time period used for these charts aren’t clear, and we’re waiting to hear back from DDOT.)
This new app comes on the heels of DDOT’s redesigned Transportation Online Permitting System (TOPS), which DDOT debuted in November 2013. The remodeled site offers users a more intuitive interface; a useful glossary and an interactive map that features street-view capabilities and a tool to measure public space dimensions in an area.
