Prepare, residents of Near Northeast D.C.: Your public library is returning next month.

The Northeast Library will reopen to the public on February 3 at 10 a.m. Since September 2012, the library has undergone a $10 million renovation project that includes:

  • restoration of original woodwork
  • new plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems
  • improved lighting
  • increased space for library programs
  • larger meeting room
  • quiet study rooms
  • new restrooms
  • new elevator
  • new and restored furnishings and fixtures
  • DCist will walk through the upgraded library later this month and report back.
