Come on, did you really think you’d be able to use the Metro this weekend without any delays? You know better.

There will be delays on four lines as reconstruction of the Metrorail system continues this weekend, affecting service between 10 p.m. Friday through the system closing on Sunday. During this time, Blue, Orange, and Yellow line trains will operate every 24 minutes, while Red Line trains will operate every 24 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont, with addition train service added from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. between Farragut North and Silver Spring. Trains on the Green Line, however, will not be affected. So rejoice and give thanks if you’re a regular Green Line weekend commuter.

When asked on WAMU’s Kojo Nnamdi Show if it’s even worth running weekend service with 24 minute headways, Metro General Manager Richard Sarles said Wednesday it should be treated as a “commuter railroad.”
