A juvenile girl was shot in Southeast D.C. today.
The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Valley Avenue SE around 3 p.m. Fire and EMS spokesperson Tim Wilson said the victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. A Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson said she was conscious and breathing when officers arrived.
Neither spokesperson could provide the girl’s age. An MPD officer, responding to a question about the shooting on a listserv, said the victim is eight-years-old.
So sad to hear that 8 year old Makayla was shot. This senseless gun violence has to stop. My thoughts are with the family.
