Like a bad horror movie villain that just won’t stay dead, winter isn’t too keen on going away anytime soon. Sure, the thermometer may read temperatures in the low 60s this week, giving you the comforting illusion that this particularly nasty winter weather is finally dead, but then—OH MY GOOD LOOK OUT BEHIND YOU!—it’s back.

Right now the temperatures are hovering somewhere in the mid-50s and it looks like it’s going to stay that way for the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service, with highs reaching 65 degrees on Friday (but with accompanying rain showers). And hell, it’ll even stay that way during the weekend through the beginning of next week! Highs in the mid-50s and lows in the upper 30s.

But then, just when you think all is safe, winter will come back to life for one last stab with 30 and 40-degree weather starting mid next week and lasting until the early days of March, the Capital Weather Gang reports. It’s hard to tell if the snap of cold arctic air that’s expected next week will bring any snow, but let’s not rule that out. “Light to moderate snowstorms are more likely in this kind of pattern than another behemoth like we just had,” CWG says.

And speaking of snow, it seems like we’ve been getting a lot of that lately, no? We have. This is the most snowfall we’ve gotten in three years, during the winter of 2009-2010, better known as the winter of Snowpocalypse, wherein the vengeful winter gods decided that humanity needed to be punished for all our sins by dumping mass amounts of snow on us.

NBC4 reports that, so far this winter, Dulles Airport has recorded 30.7 inches of snow, while BWI clocked in at 24.8 inches and National at 15.2, which is the equivalent snowfall of the past three winters put together. For comparison: In the winter of 2009, Dulles recorded 73 inches of snow, while BWI had 77 and National had 56.1. So yeah, things could be worse.

Anyway, the point is, enjoy this week’s warm weather while you can, because Winter Is Coming (back).
