Piling on to the already low opinion most have about U.S. politicians, House of Cards star Kevin Spacey dropped by the Daily Show last night and basically said that most of them are as phony as we thought they were.

Some context: While discussing the hit Netflix show’s second season, which a lot of people watched on Friday, Daily Show host Jon Stewart asked him if he spent any time in Washington to prepare for the role. Turns out Spacey shadowed Republican Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy around for a bit and even sat in on a few Whip meetings. And what did he learn from his experience? That most politicians are as shady and fake as you’d expect.

“it feels like you’re watching performance art,” Spacey told Stewart during his interview. “I don’t believe them, I don’t believe what they say, I don’t think that they’re being absolutely sincere. It’s performance art, and a lot of them are bad actors.”

So there you have it: Politicians are as full of shit as you thought they were!
