>> Dukem Jazz hosts saxophonist Jeff Antoniuk and his Brazil Project on Thursday. The set list will include classic samba, choro, bossa nova and even some modern funk and fusion tunes. 9 and 10:30 p.m. sets. No cover.
>> Friday marks the start of the always fascinating INTERSECTIONS festival at the Atlas. The two week event presents music, theater, dance, film, spoken word and performance art that highlight cross-cultural collaborations. The festival has a healthy jazz component that includes rapper Christylez with the Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra, saxophonist Brad Linde, vocalists Andrea Wood and Akua Allrich, and world jazz ensemble, The Fourth Stream. >> Area vocalist Lori Williams leads her group on Friday at Jazz Night in Southwest. 6 to 9 p.m. Tickerts $5. The following day, the venue at Westminster Presbyterian will host Ellington at the White House, a free program focusing on President Nixon’s awarding the Medal of Freedom to Duke Ellington. 1 to 3 p.m.
>> Kimberly Thompson made her name in the jazz world by playing with the likes of guitarist Mike Stern. She went on to play drums with platinum selling pop acts such as Kanye West and Beyoncé. Her profile is set to explode now that she is the bandleader on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Thompson will lead her own band on Friday at the Kennedy Center. 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. sets. >> Joe Louis Walker is one of the greatest bluesmen of his generation and was named to the Blues Hall of Fame in 2013. He will celebrate the release of his latest album, Hornet’s Nest, on Friday at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club. 8 p.m. Tickets $25 plus food and drink minimum.
>> On Friday, Bloombars hosts an evening of Indian classical and Indo-jazz fusion with Soumya Chakraverty on the sarod, Debu Nayak on tabla and guitarist Siddhartha Lahiri. 8:30 p.m. $20 suggested donation.
>> Saxophonist David Ludman recently relocated to D.C. after completing his studies in New York and spending several years in New Orleans. He has assembled a band, the Jazz Epiphany, who will be performing on Friday and Saturday at Twins Jazz. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets $15 plus food and drink minimum.
>> Kris Funn has been among the city’s first-call bassists for over a decade. He plays locally with DCist faves, The Young Lions, and has toured the world with Kenny Garrett and Christian Scott. Funn leads his band, Cornerstore, on Friday and Saturday at Bohemian Caverns. 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets. Tickets $20 in advance/$25 at the door.

>> Keyboardist Keiko Matsui blurs the lines between traditional jazz, smooth jazz and new age music. She will be leading her group on Saturday at The Birchmere. 7:30 p.m. Tickets $39.50.
>> Kronos Quartet is known for eclectic musical interests that lead them to create rich and unexpected concert experiences. Kronos will join with famed Malian vocalist Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté and instrumentalists Fodé Lassana Diabaté and Mamadou Kouyaté on Saturday in Trio Da Kali’s first visit to the United States. The concert takes place at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland. 8 p.m. Tickets $10-$35.
>> The legendary Count Basie Orchestra will team up with the celebrated vocal ensemble, New York Voices, for a Sunday afternoon concert at the Music Center at Strathmore. 4 p.m. Tickets $31.50 to $65.
>> Saxophonist David Sanchez has spent nearly two decades at the top of New York’s rich Latin jazz scene, earning an international reputation for his playing and composing. The native Puerto Rican will lead his group on Sunday at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club. 7:30 p.m. Tickets $20 plus food and drink minimum.
>> The historic Tabard Inn has re-jiggered its music programming and now offers jazz during its Sunday brunch as well as the following two evenings, every week. Sunday’s session features bassist Victor Dvoskin and guests, Monday will focus on jazz vocalists, while the area’s best jazz guitarists take the floor on Tuesdays. 7:30 to 10 p.m. No cover.
