These days (and in many days past), all anybody talks about is how expensive D.C. is getting—rising rents, cost of living, etc. But no one has really discussed how the city’s rising prices are affecting one particular sector: the local pizza economy.
Thankfully, the folks at NPR’s Planet Money did yeoman’s work by pulling massive data to figure out the average price of pizza in neighborhoods in five cities: Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, and D.C.
To put together these charts, they “looked at the median price of all cheese pizzas” from data provided by Grubhub and Seamless. From the data compiled it looks like the neighborhood with the largest selection of cheap pizza (around $12) is in Adams Morgan, while the most expensive pizza in the city can be found in Tenleytown and Foggy Bottom.
