>> Steve Fidyk is not only an accomplished drummer, he plays with The U.S. Army Blues, but also a respected educator and composer. He assembled a fantastic group of musicians to record his latest album, Heads Up!, and all of them will be at Blues Alley tonight to celebrate its release. >> A native of the D.C. area and presently a student at the Juilliard School of Music, the talented young saxophonist Braxton Cook is already racking up critical accolades, has toured with trumpeter Christian Scott and was a semi-finalist in the 2013 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition. Cook will lead a band featuring Mathis Picard on piano, Zach Brown on bass and Kush Abadey on drums on Friday and Saturday at Bohemian Caverns. 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets. >> Some of the finest jazz musicians in the DMV came to this area to join the multitude of military ensembles that are based around the capital. The Airmen of Note is the U.S. Air Force’s premiere jazz ensemble, and it will perform a free 6 p.m. show on Monday at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage.

>> Blue Monday Blues hosts the journeyman guitarist Memphis Gold. 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets $5.

>> TrioVera features pianist Harry Appelman, bassist Victor Dvoskin and drummer Dominic Smith, all veterans of the local music scene. The group will play 8 and 10 p.m. sets at Blues Alley on Monday. Tickets $18 plus food and drink minimum.

>> Bob Mintzer has been a member of the pioneering fusion group, The Yellowjackets, for over 20 years. In addition, he leads his own big band and quartet, and tours the world as a sideman. Andrew White is a mainstay of the local community who has performed with luminaries like Elvin Jones, McCoy Tyner and Otis Redding. He is also one of the world’s foremost experts on John Coltrane’s music. These two world class artists will partner for 8 and 10 p.m. sets on Tuesday at Blues Alley.
