A five-year-old boy was struck by the driver of a vehicle today and suffered minor injuries, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident happened in the 1800 block on Benning Road NE, which was temporarily shut down but has since reopened. The child was taken to a local hospital, according to D.C. Fire and EMS. His condition was not immediately available.
At least 171 pedestrians and cyclists have been struck in D.C. this year.
