A woman was struck by a dump truck in downtown D.C. this afternoon, authorities say.

According to a Metropolitan Police Department public information officer, the woman was struck at the intersection of 6th Street and Indiana Avenue NW at approximately 2:13 p.m. The woman was transported to the hospital for serious injuries, but the PIO says she was conscious and breathing when police arrived at the scene.
