The city broke the record for hottest June 17 yesterday, when the temperature reached 97 degrees at National Airport. That has yet to happen today, but there’s a decent chance it will.
D.C.’s Heat Emergency plan has been activated, and cooling centers are open across the city, save from the Virginia Williams Family Resource Center, which closed at 11 a.m.
