The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the death of a three-year-old boy in Southeast D.C. The boy’s death, authorities say, is being ruled as a homicide.
According to a release, police responded to reports of an unconscious child in the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road SE. Upon arrival, they found a male toddler who was reportedly unconscious and unresponsive. When they arrived on the scene, D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services found that the boy, identified as three-year-old Xavier Lyles, had “no signs consistent with life.” An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was from “multiple blunt force injuries.”
At this time, a homicide investigation is ongoing and MPD is offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information leading to an arrest. Call (202) 727-9099 or submit an anonymous text tip to 50411 if you have any information.
