The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a homicide and armed robbery that occurred near the Brightwood neighborhood of Northwest D.C. on July 4th.

According to MPD, units responded to a call for a robbery in progress at a corner store in the 5500 block of Colorado Avenue NW at approximately 5:19 p.m. Upon arrival, police found a semi-conscious adult male suffering from head trauma who was transported to the hospital and later died of his injuries.

The victim has been identified as 76-year-old James Oh. Local residents and MPD confirm that Oh was the owner of the Gold Corner Market, where the incident took place.

Police describe the suspects as two black males, one wearing a red hooded sweat shirt and the other wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt. Both were wearing a mask. Police also say the suspects fled the scene in a black Jeep Cherokee with D.C. tags, which was stolen and has since been recovered.
