>> The jazz series at the Loews Madison Hotel features three fine vocalists this week. Latin singer/guitarist Cecilia Esquivel performs from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday. Local favorites Lena Seikaly and Lori Williams play from 8 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, respectively. No cover.

>> The Creative Music in D.C. series at Union Arts continues on Friday with a trio of trios. The bill features local ensemble Trio OOO alongside the Organix Trio and Garrett/Scheible/Tucker. 8 p.m. $4 suggested donation.
>> Matvei Sigalov moved to the U.S. from Russia, deciding to settle in the D.C. area. He has since become a sought after violinist and guitarist, combining technical proficiency with fluency in genres ranging from bebop, to Latin to Eastern European folk styles. He will be at Bohemian Caverns on Friday and Saturday to lead a group of local heavyweights that includes keyboardist Federico Gonzalez Peña, bassist Michael Bowie and drummer Sean Rickman. 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. sets. >> Los Angeles-based drummer Alex Snydman made the surprising switch from guitar to drums during his senior year of college. He has since dedicated himself to the instrument and his work has paid off with performances at major festivals and clubs. He will be playing 8 and 10 p.m. sets from Friday through Sunday at Twins Jazz to celebrate the release of his new album, Fortunate Action. Tickets $16 plus minimum and surcharge.
>> Smooth jazz keyboardist Marcus Johnson performs at 8 p.m. on Saturday at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club.
>> We make no secret of the fact that Akua Allrich is one of our favorite local jazz musicians, not only for her talents, but for the sheer joy she brings to every performance. >> Saxophonist Marty Nau re-starts his Tuesday night residency at Twins Jazz. 8 and 10 p.m. sets. Tickets $10 plus minimum and surcharge.
>> Joe Herrera has been among the area’s first-call trumpeters for several years now and is also a co-director of the Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra. He will begin a four-week run of Tuesday nights in the cave as the August Artist-in-Residence at the historic venue. 7:30 and 9 p.m. sets. Tickets $10 in advance/$15 at the door.
>> Jerry Douglas is widely held as one of the best dobro players to have ever picked up the instrument. He has thirteen Grammy awards in the country and bluegrass categories, but his range extends well beyond that. A typical performance from his band may include tunes by Weather Report or Chick Corea, and is closer to jazz fusion than it is to country. Douglas will lead his band on Tuesday at The Hamilton. 7:30 p.m. Tickets $28 to $32.
