Department of the Interior, Tami Heilemann

Through the end of October, a six-acre portrait created from sand, soil and string will be on display on the National Mall.

As our Matt Cohen noted in his piece yesterday, the only way to see Jorge Rodríguez-Gerada’s “Out Of Many, One” in all its glory is from the Washington Monument, an airplane or computer. He provided a picture from the inside our city’s famed obelisk, and today we have photos taken from the Department of the Interior’s helicopter.

You can also check out the view from an EarthCam installed in the Monument.
