In case you missed the public hearing the Committee on the Judiciary and Public Safety held at Howard University’s School of Business last week, good news: you can watch the whole thing below. Also, as previously reported, there’s going to another hearing, this time at the Wilson Building and with representatives from the Metropolitan Police Department present.

The hearing will take place at 11:30 a.m. in Room 412 of the Wilson Building. Last week’s debate attracted a packed auditorium, with nearly 30 people testifying their experiences with the MPD’s policies and procedures, which, many said, unfairly target black communities in D.C. During the hearing, many ideas about how to reform police policies and procedures were shared and, at the next hearing, public witnesses will be able to voice their concerns to MPD officers, along with members of the D.C. Council.

Anyone who wishes to testify should contact Nicole Goines at (202) 724-7808 or ngoines@dccouncil.us by October 23.
