Update: The Metropolitan Police Department now says the suspect is not a cab driver.

The initial investigation had indicated that the sexual assault occurred in a taxi cab. However, further investigation revealed that the victim was walking in the 900 block of Kennedy Street, Northwest when she was approached and sexually assaulted by the suspect and no D.C. taxi cab was involved.

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in finding a cab driver they sexually assaulted a passenger early Sunday morning.

According to MPD, an adult female says she was sexually assaulted by the driver of the taxi cab she was in between approximately 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, between the 600 and 700 blocks of Kennedy Street NW.

The suspect, MPD says, is described as a black male approximately 6’2″ to 6’4″ with an American accent and is reportedly operating a four door cab with a grey stripe.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 202-727-9099 and are offering a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information leading to an arrest and conviction.
