While today is Halloween, Thanksgiving is just 26 days away and Christmas a mere 54, turn your thoughts toward spring and the cherry blossoms that come with it.

Organizers announced yesterday that the National Cherry Blossom Festival will take place from March 20 to April 12, 2015, with the parade on April 11. For the second year, it will include the Sing Into Spring competition, with entries accepted until November 14.

For the first time, the last day of the festival will feature the Anacostia River Festival in Anacostia Park, an “event [that] merges the arts, health, environment, and recreation, with activities including canoeing, kayaking, bird watching, bike riding, and nature walks.” See more events below:

  • Saturday, March 21: Opening Ceremony at Warner Theatre
  • Saturday, March 21: Family Days presented with the National Building Museum (plus ongoing Saturday workshops at the National Building Museum)
  • Saturdays (March 21, 28, April 4): Step Into Spring Fitness Programming on the Washington Monument grounds
  • Saturday, March 28: Blossom Kite Festival on the Washington Monument grounds
  • Saturday, April 4: Fireworks Festival presented by Procter & Gamble Premium Brands
  • Saturday, April 11: Sakura Matsuri – Japanese Street Festival produced by The Japan-America Society of Washington DC
  • Saturday, April 11: National Cherry Blossom Festival Paradeâ presented by Events DC
  • Saturday, March 28 – Sunday, April 13: Festival Welcome Center & free Performance Stage at the Tidal Basin, produced with the National Park Service
