A group of kids in Alexandria had a legitimately frightening experience on Halloween when a man with a gun demanded candy while they played at a park.
On October 31, at 8:30 p.m., an unknown male confronted a group of 12 juveniles playing “tag” on a school playground. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded Halloween candy. The juveniles fled the scene and no one was injured.
The attempted robbery took place in the 2600 block of Commonwealth Avenue. The suspect is described as a “black male, in his late teens or early 20’s, approximately 5’10”, wearing a dark colored sweatshirt with a hood, jeans, and a black ski-mask. He was also carrying a red and black backpack.”
