Yesterday, we dropped some depressing stats on you before showing you pictures of adorable and adoptable senior dogs. Today, in honor of Adopt a Senior Pet Month, we’ll do the same for cats.

King. Via WHS.
King, 10: “King…of Awesome! Hiya folks, my name is King and I am really excited to meet you. My owner could no longer care for me, so here I am at WHS looking for love. I am a mature cat in the prime of my life and well-versed in how to be an amazing cat companion and house panther. Now don’t tell the ladies, but I am a big old cuddly love bug and mushy purr monster. I am super affectionate, am crazy about people and want nothing more than to snuggle up with you and watch a movie or read a good book. (Um, just none of that teenage vampire stuff, please! A kitty has to draw the line somewhere.) I know there are lots of kitties at WHS younger than me, but I have so much love to give and a long life ahead of me to be your boo. Plus, I am calmer than many of those young bucks and will not get under your feet so much or be tempted to climb the curtains. If you are ready to adopt, please stop by and let’s share a cuddle. I like to be held and will purr up a storm for you. I know we are going to love each other.”
Tropicana, 10: “MBK looking for love. That’s Mature Beautiful Kitty, of course! Meow, my name is Tropicana and I am quite pleased to meet you. My owner lost their home, so I find myself at the shelter, which between you and me, is a lot for a calm lady like me to adjust to. I am used to sleeping in bed with people and snuggling on the sofa, and can’t wait to get back to that way of life. Can you help a sister out?! I am friendly and love affection. I have never lived with other pets before, but lived with children and enjoyed growing up with them. If you are ready for a calm, loving companion, then I am your girl. Stop by WHS today and let’s have a chat. I think you might be THE ONE!”

Roman. Via WHS.
Roman, 9: “Roman is a 9 year old, beautiful, purebred British shorthair who is looking for a home where he can lounge on sofas and towels–his favorite activity! He does love toys, so if you’re willing to play he’ll eagerly join you. He would prefer a home with no dogs, which just means he gets to spend even more time with you and other two-legged members of your family. Stop by our Georgia Avenue Adoption Center to meet him today!”
Micio, 16: ” I’m in foster care! Micio is lovin’ life with his foster family, but can’t wait to find his fur-ever retirement home! Abandoned at the ripe old age of 15, Micio is looking for a companion to enjoy his remaining twilight years. If you’re unsure about making a 10+ year commitment to a pet, a senior cat might be your answer. Check out Petfinder’s Ten Reasons Senior Cats Rule. Micio is very well behaved and litter trained. He enjoys head and belly scratches, napping, and watching the goldfish tank. He immediately took to our own cat and within a few days they were buddies. Totally white except a tail that seems to have been dipped in gray, Micio is complete gentleman and would make a great addition to any home. If you would like to meet him, please email his foster parents at eeway3@gmail.com”
Snapple, 9: “I’m in foster care! I just heard the most ridiculous thing…get this, people think black cats are bad luck. Clearly these are people who have never met me. My name is Snapple and I am a very laid back gentleman. Now, I will be completely transparent I could stand to lose a little weight. I need the chance to be a little active and some delish grain-free food that can be measured out for my daily ration. I could make a good companion for another cat or I would be happy being your one and only. I would be a great kitty companion full of purrs and love for any family. Other than that, you couldn’t ask for an easier cat that will bring you nothing but good things. So if you are looking for a lap lover e-mail my foster to meet me her name is Anina aertel@gmail.com.”
Mao Mao, 10: “I’m in foster care!! Hello! My name is MaoMao and I’m a chubby ball of fur looking for a nice place to relax. I love curling with my humans and prefer playing with them over my kitty roommates. I get along great with everyone, I just prefer a slower lifestyle. If you want to relax with me please reach out to my humans. 202-361-0608 or colbieholderness@gmail.com”
Ariel, 9: “Well hello there, nice people! My name is Ariel, and I am a real honey of a cat. I am friendly and curious and have been told I have the cutest meow in town. And I do like to have a bit of a chat with my human friends. My owner could no longer care for me so I find myself back on the market, looking for love. I have a great personality and will be so much fun to come home to. I am a mature lady, but have many years ahead to be your furry best friend and love bug. After all, cats have long lives! Now, I have gotten a little too full figured (shhhhh!) and am hoping my new person or people will help me drop some weight so I can stay healthy. I think I would prefer to be an only kitty, too. So if you are ready to find your new bestie, I think I may be just the cat you are looking for. Come in and scratch me behind my ears and let’s talk about your comfy sofa, the view from your favorite window, and exactly how much you are going to love me. Of course, I will love you right back!”

Mocha. Via WHS.
Mocha, 11: “Meow, my name is Mocha, and I am a lovely mature lady looking for love in the big city. I decided to try this online dating thing that all the kids are talking about. I am mellow, laid-back and loving and can think of nothing I would like more than to keep you company on the sofa. We can snuggle up, watch movies or even binge watch a series. I hear Breaking Bad is awesome! I have a lot of years left to love and I am ready to for my furrever home. Come in and let’s get to know each other.”
Pearl, 10: “I’m IN FOSTER CARE! If you’re looking for an incredibly soft lovebug – then, Pearl is your girl! She may be a little introverted at first, but she settles into her new environments quickly and couldn’t be more lovable. Her favorite pastimes include cuddling on the couch against her human, belly rubs and head scratches. She also has a spunky, playful side! This mature lady takes on a feather toy like a kitten and does not tire easily. She is very in touch with her inner kitten and will blossom in a home where she can explore, be loved, and of course, get lots of feather toy playtime! To meet Pearl, please contact her foster mom at jenna.canitz@gmail.com.”
Liza, 11: “Hello Daahlings! Meet Liza, and bask in the fabulousness. Liza is a stunning, sophisticated lady who loves anyone who appreciates how amazing she is. With her sparkly green eyes and beautiful coat, she’s a born star. She came to the shelter when her owner could no longer keep her, and naturally she had a tough time adjusting to life in the shelter after living in a home for so long. But now she’s in a foster home and her true character is shining through and is larger than life! Liza is incredibly affectionate–she LOOOOVES to nuzzle up in your lap and is a total purr machine–check out the video to see her compulsive headbutting! She’s also adjusting to life with her canine foster brother! She doesn’t love him as much as she loves her human friends, but she’s perfectly polite and will likely be just fine in a home with dogs. At 11, Liza is a mature girl, but she has a lot of good years ahead of her. And since she’s already figured out who she is, she’s an independent lady who will be fine while you’re at work; she’ll just be happy to snuggle up with you when you get home! To learn more about her and set up a time to meet her, contact her foster mom Tracy at tspeelhoffer@gmail.com.”
Fifi, 11: “Hi, I’m Fifi! I’m a big, round bundle of love. I’m a bit older than most of the other cats here at the shelter, but I think that’s what would make me a great addition to your home. With all my experience and wisdom, I am a calm and relaxed lady. But as you can see from my video I still enjoy a little play session from time to time! Despite my age, I have so much love left to give. Will you take a chance on a sweet older kitty and see if you could be my forever friend?”

Gigi. Via WARL.
Gigi, 13: “Sweet Gigi is a gentle but fun loving senior gal. She had a nice home but her guardian passed away. Gigi is a bit shy with new folks but is very affectionate with people she knows. She likes to cuddle on the couch and she very much enjoys sunbathing. And this super cute gal can still play and be silly- age is only a number to her. The ideal home for Gigi is one where she is given some time to settle in and she would really like to sleep with her owners on her own warm bed. To meet Gigi please contact her foster parents at dprentiss@gmail.com or jcconeff@yahoo.com or WARL at adopt@WARL.org. Bonus: If you are over the age of 50, her adoption fee is waived as part of WARL’s Boomers’ Buddies program.”
Cari, 8: “This is the beautiful Cari. Cari is a classic tortie and a super affectionate kitty. She is a bit on the plump side but that just adds to her cuteness. Cari is a huge fan of snuggling in her humans lap and she gives the most exuberant head-butts. This gal loves to give and receive love. She is a quiet kitty and has impeccable litter box manners. Cari also enjoys being brushed which keeps her fantastic orange and black coat in gorgeous shape and oh so soft. The ideal home for Cari is one where she is the only pet, as she wants you all to herself. Cari would do well with adults and older children. To meet the sweet and perky Cari please contact her foster mom at mabehme@verizon.net or contact WARL at adopt@WARL.org. Bonus: If you are over the age of 50, her adoption fee is waived as part of WARL’s Boomers’ Buddies program.”

Fellini. Via Homeward Trails.
Fellini, 17: “Fellini is an absolutely stunning 17 year old DLH tabby. He was brought to HT when his owner could no longer care for him. Despite the circumstances, Fellini is doing great in his foster home! He is a complete lap cat and when he’s not snuggled in a lap, he’s gazing out the window (he’s a big bird watcher). Fellini is a very vocal cat and will just steal your heart away. Senior cats are often overlooked, this guy has a lot of love to give still! Can you please give Fellini a home?”
Holly, 10: “Holly is a sweet cat with plenty of charm. She is very affectionate and immediately goes in for the nuzzles. Other hobbies include knitting, sitting in laps and purring. She was surrendered to the shelter because her previous owners’ life was “just too complicated.” Holly seems totally fine with other cats.”
Junebug, 11: “Meet Junebug! Junebug, is a short-haired tortie/calico who is sweet, affectionate, and enjoys being pet. Junebug has a lot of personality, and loves to sit near you and be around you. She is a big kitty, but that just means there is more of her to love!”
Lucky, 10: “Lucky Cat sadly went to the shelter after his owner went into hospice care and could no longer care for him. After 10 years in the same home, Lucky was sad and confused at the shelter. He is very sweet once he can relax in your presence, but clearly longs to go back home! Lucky was so stressed at the shelter that Homeward Trails just had to step up and rescue him. He is now safe in a foster home waiting patiently for that special forever family to call him their own.”
Remus and Romulus, 14: “These two are orange senior brothers. Both of them are declawed. Remus is a medium-sized shorthair with some white. Romulus is a large, long-haired kitty. Remus and Romulus have spent their entire lives together. Since they are so bonded, they must be placed in the same home.”
Misty Sparks, 12: “Misty Sparks is an adorable and affectionate senior who came ended up at a crowded shelter with her sister Precious when their owner became too ill to care for them. While the girls get along they do not appear at all bonded and could easily be adopted out individually. Misty loved people and will purr adoringly and cuddle with anyone available. She is truly a darling cat and we would love to see her spend her senior years being adored in a home.”
Max, 17, and Tack, 10: “Max and Tack are two of the sweetest cats you will ever meet. They love people and each other. They spend their days cuddling and sleeping but are always welcoming of human attention. Max is 17 and positive for FIV with kidney disease. Tack is 10 and healthy. Along with their two other brothers they were dumped at a high volume shelter and we rescued all 4 ! Lucky and Jake have found a forever loving home. Can you help these two boys do the same?”
